There are approximately 25 different areas on the grounds of Sacred Heart of Jesus that are adopted and maintained by volunteers. The volunteers refer to these areas as “their flowerbeds”. They pull weeds, hedge shrubs, spread mulch, spray to control diseases and insects, apply fertilizer, spray to control weeds in the plaza area,
and so on.
Individuals or families or sometimes two or three individuals will share one area. There is no set schedule as to when the volunteers work in their flowerbeds. They are only asked to routinely check their areas. The objective is to enhance the beauty of the grounds at Sacred Heart.
Once or twice a year a workday is planned so everyone comes together to handle the “big” jobs. This is the perfect opportunity for fellowship with all the adopters. This workday is usually planned during the cooler months of the year!!!!
Anyone interested in becoming a member of the ministry may call the parish office at 337-364-4439.
At this time, we do have a lawn service maintaining the flower beds and lawn. Sacred Heart's grounds are so big that we are always in need of extra help.
