The Worship Commission has been very busy during the last several months. In addition to the normal liturgical responsibilities, the commission has thoroughly discussed the issue regarding respect/reverence for the Eucharist in relation to proper dress for those who serve in any liturgical ministry at any Mass. The commission researched several liturgical resources that, in one way or another, states that the way we dress at Mass should demonstrate our appreciation of how our role fits within the worship experience and that our attire should express respect and reverence for the sacred mysteries that are being celebrated. The commission firmly believes that anyone serving at the liturgy should dress appropriately. They further believe that wearing shorts, mini-skirts/ mini-dresses and low cut t-shirts or blouses to Mass is not showing reverence and respect for our Lord and the Eucharist and it is not appropriate dress when serving at the liturgy. The following dress code was developed and sent to the Pastoral Council. The Pastoral Council recommended to Fr. Greene that it be approved, and Fr. Greene accepted the recommendation. The following dress code is presently in effect:
Liturgical Ministries Dress Code(for those who serve in any liturgical ministry at all Masses)
The following may be worn:
Knee pants, dresses or skirts just above/at the knees or longer, pants suits, dress slacks, jeans and blouses/shirts.
The following may NOT be worn:shorts, inappropriate pictures or messages on shirts, strapless dresses or blouses, spaghetti straps, low-cut, revealing dresses or blouses, mini-skirts or mini-dresses.
